I love ajax but hate using .gifs for loading images. What is this, 1996? If you’re as sick of using animated .gifs as I am check out this cool solution by Felix Gnass.

Pure JS/CSS3 loading image, fully customizable and even compatible with ie6.

There’s definitely a performance hit in comparison to a straight .gif but you can’t deny that this is the future. Will be testing this out on future projects for sure.
